EDP×beatnation summit 2017 – kors k & Ryu☆ Interview

From the pamphlet given out at EDP×beatnation summit 2017, held March 18, 2017, celebrating the 10th anniversary of beatnation records. Short interviews with beatnation members kors k & Ryu☆.

Please tell us your impressions from last year’s “EDP2016@Toyosu PIT”.

The fact that I was able to participate in the biggest music game event in history, and the feeling of “music games have finally come this far, huh”, was completely overwhelming.

How are you feeling right now, preparing for the beatnation 10th anniversary performance?

It feels like a test of how far I’ve come in the past ten years. If this performance can stimulate something in the future music stars in the audience who will shape the next 10 years, I’d be very happy.

Tell us about an artist or genre that’s been on your radar recently.

YUC’e-chan. I’ll never forget the shock from the first time I heard Future Cαndy. I was struck by the feminine angle, and the high-quality for a self produced work.

Tell us about the equipment you use in music production.

If you had to be stuck on a desert island with another one of the performers, who would it be?

It’d have to be Ryu☆-chan, huh? We tour together all the time, so it’d work out because we’re comfortable around each other.

It’s graduation season right now, so is there anything you’ve recently graduated out of, or would like to graduate out of?

I put off things I don’t want to do, so I want to overcome that! It’s childish!

A message for those attending the show?

The speed of change makes ten years ago feel like ancient history, but tonight I hope everyone can feel the traces of the path we’ve taken together on their skin. Just like how the RHYZE members are here with us now, if we can make this an experience that’s a turning point in your life, that would be the best! Please enjoy it to your very core!

Please tell us your impressions from last year’s “EDP2016@Toyosu PIT”.

I’m proud that we were able to pull off a new collaboration like EDP x SOUND VOLTEX x beatnation summit, and that we were able to produce an event as long as 6 hours. Everyone in attendance, all the artists, the staff; everyone who helped heat up the event has my thanks!

How are you feeling right now, preparing for the beatnation 10th anniversary performance?

I’ve stood on countless stages and produced countless events up until now, but I’d like to think of this one as a culmination of everything that’s come before. I want to aim for this being the best of the best, and work hard at having high quality sound, visuals, lighting, performance, and everything.

Tell us about an artist or genre that’s been on your radar recently.

kors k. In our 2016 America tour, we were able to stay in the same hotel room for two weeks stress-free!

It’s graduation season right now, so is there anything you’ve recently graduated out of, or would like to graduate out of?

I was a slacker for a long time, but I’ve finally made a habit of going to the gym. I’ve graduated from inactivity!

A message for those attending the show?

Everyone reading this pamphlet, and everyone who attended the show, thank you so much! Let’s welcome beatnation’s 10th anniversary, and BEMANI’s 20th anniversary. I’m going to keep thinking about how to bring out more potential from music games, and make a more world together with our players. I hope to meet your expectations, so thank you for your kind patronage!
